Happiness: It Depends Retreat & Lunch

SAT, May 11

10:00am - 1:00pm | Retreat

1:00 - 2:00pm | Lunch

with Gen Kelsang Chokyi, Resident Teacher

We all want to be happy in our relationships. Some of our relationships are joyful, and others are not. Sometimes it may feel like certain people are full of faults and negativity. Through recognizing how relationships are dependent on many factors and conditions, we can learn to skillfully navigate them.

“Loving others is principally an attitude of mind, and the way in which we express it depends upon the needs and wishes of each individual as well as our karmic connection with them. We cannot physically care for everyone, but we can develop a caring attitude toward all beings. This is the main point of training the mind.” - Geshe Kelsang Gyatso Rinpoche

On this retreat you will learn:

— Distinguishing between negative states of mind and people (including you)
— How to love without expectations

— Being able to generation a meditation practice to increase our happiness

The retreat is suitable for all meditation levels, including beginners. It includes guided meditations, short teachings as well as a written Q&A in the last session. Everyone can benefit from this retreat — you don't have to be Buddhist to participate.

This retreat is followed by a vegetarian taco lunch ($8), please register for the lunch online by Thursday, May 9 to participate so we can prepare accordingly.

You can register for the retreat online or in person at KMC Bloomington's reception.
