a NEW 12-Week Course!

Introducing a Systematic Approach to Meditation and Buddhism.

 The 12-Week Course on Buddhism:
If you would like to receive a structured introduction to Buddhism, this course may be for you! You can attend the entire 12 week course, a 4-week series, or simply drop-in to any class on any week. No commitment needs to be made for the entirety of the course, however, the more classes you attend, the greater benefit you will receive! Success in our meditation practice takes consistency and repetition, so committing to a part or the whole course is encouraged.

 

Buddha’s teachings are scientific methods for improving our humanity and good qualities through developing our mind. This course provides a special opportunity to learn essential principles unique to Buddhist philosophy, as well as a chance to delve into meditation as a tool for training our mind. Each class consists of chanted prayer, guided meditations, teachings, and discussion.

 

When is the class:
Part 1 – Starting every Wednesdays, January 17 – February 7, 6:30-8:30pm
Part 2 – Starting every Wednesdays, February 14 – March 7, 6:30-8:30pm
Part 3 – Starting Wednesdays, March 14 – April 4, 6:30-8:30pm

 

The Book: Introduction to Buddhism
The course will be based on the book, Introduction to Buddhism, An Explanation of the Buddhist Way of Life, by Geshe Kelsang Gyatso Rinpoche. Copies of this book are available for purchase in our bookstore so you can read, study, and follow along.  You may attend the whole course or just drop-in to as many classes as you like.

The Teacher:
Kelsang Namdrol is an American Buddhist nun and Resident Teacher of Kadampa Meditation Center Bloomington. She has been studying, practicing and teaching Kadampa Buddhism for many years. Namdrol brings a warm heart and a joyful attitude to sharing Buddha’s teachings and the practice of meditation.

 

How do I pay?:
$30/4 week series. To receive the discount for the series, you must pay on the first night of each part of the series. (January 17,February 14 and March 14.) You can pay with Cash, Check or bank card.
$12/per drop-in class.
