Busy Life, Calm Mind Retreat & Lunch (optional)

SAT, July 6

10:00am - 1:00pm | Retreat

1:00 - 2:00pm | Lunch

We all have a lot going on, even if we are retired. We hurry from here to there trying to get things done. Ultimately, we can be efficient in our lives without compromising our peace of mind.

“At first our mind will be very busy, and we might even feel that the meditation is making our mind busier; but in reality we are just becoming more aware of how busy our mind actually is...When the turbulence of distracting thoughts subsides and our mind becomes still, a deep happiness and contentment naturally arises from within. This feeling of contentment and well-being helps us to cope with the busyness and difficulties of daily life.”
- Geshe Kelsang Gyatso Rinpoche

On this retreat you will learn:

— How to navigate life with peace of mind

— How to find balance amidst a busy schedule

— Meditation techniques to pacify busy states of mind

The retreat is suitable for those who are familiar with Buddhist philosophy on emptiness. It includes guided meditations, short teachings as well as Q&A in the last session. Everyone can benefit from this retreat — you don't have to be Buddhist to participate.

This retreat is followed by an optional vegetarian lunch ($8), please register for the lunch online by Thursday, July 3 to participate so we can prepare accordingly.

You can register for the retreat online or in person at KMC Bloomington's reception.

As a student of Venerable Geshe Kelsang Gyatso Rinpoche, Gen Kelsang Chokyi has been practicing Kadampa Buddhism for 20 years and is an American Buddhist nun. She is the Resident Teacher at KMC Bloomington. With joy, wisdom and experience, she illuminates how we can integrate Buddha's teachings into daily life.
