Empower Your Life with Love Friday Night Talk

FRI, Feb 23

6:30 - 8pm

with Gen Kelsang Chokyi, Resident Teacher

in person and live stream (for members)

We all want to be empowered vs disempowered by our love for others. Most of our relationships are loving, but come with the strings of expectations of others fulfilling our wishes. This is not pure love because it is based on our own happiness, the other person is valuable because they make us feel good. We don't need to abandon our relationships but learn how to distinguish between love and attachment and improve our love until becomes pure. Love empowers our life when it's more pure.

In this talk, Gen Chokyi will explore the following:
- How do we generate a mind of love vs waiting for love?
- How can I empower my relationships vs disempower them?
- How can we train in a loving, caring attitude?

“Love is the great protector, protecting us from anger and jealousy.”
— Geshe Kelsang Gyatso

As a student of Venerable Geshe Kelsang Gyatso, Gen Kelsang Chokyi has been practicing Kadampa Buddhism for 19 years and is an ordained American Buddhist nun. She is the Resident Teacher at KMC Bloomington. With joy, wisdom, and experience, she shows how everyone can easily integrate Buddha’s teachings into daily life.

This weekend retreat will be using the book How to Transform Your Life by Geshe Kelsang Gyatso Rinpoche. It's not required to have these books, but some people like to have them on hand during the event or read more afterward. You can purchase books in our Bookstore & Shop — check out our Shop schedule.
