WHAT is the DIFFERENCE BETWEEN GP and FP?
General Program (GP) classes are designed to provide varying topics of Kadam Dharma to give students a general experience of Buddhism. They are drop-in classes designed so you can come and go as you wish without a commitment. Foundation Progam (FP) classes are structured to provide continual teachings from one book until it is complete. It is a study program where students commit to come to each class, engage in longer meditations (30 minutes), actively interact in discussion with fellow students, and study outside of class. There is a monthly membership fee of $60, which allows you to attend unlimited GP classes and in-depth retreats as well.
Being an FP student means that you practice taking the Dharma to heart by applying it in daily activities. It also means being a part of the Kadampa Meditation Center Bloomington community. The Center runs on volunteers. FP students have the opportunity to contribute by volunteering in some way. FP will be Sunday from 4-7:30pm: the first session 4-5:30pm with a
30-minute dinner break and second session 6-7:30pm.
